With last year being a great year for games, 09 is looking to be nothing less than promising. Already, games on the horizon are causing a stir from highly anticipated shooters, to next installments in signature franchises, to re-releases of vintage cult games. Get your thumbs ready for hours of fun with these picks.
1. Punch- Out!! - YES! For any true gamer, the Punch-Out franchise was a must have with the original NES and Super NES systems. The video preview looks like a promising revival of a timeless classic.
2. The Beatles - Thats right, the team behind Rockband will deliver a game with tracks entirely of the Fab Four set to release in Q4 of 09.
3. Batman Arkham Asylum - In my opinion, there has yet to be a good Batman video game that could capture the feeling from the comics. This version just may well be the triumph fans have been waiting for.
4. Ghostbusters: The Video Game - Break out your Bobby Brown cd's for this one. And remember, no matter what, never cross the proton streams.
5. Tekken 6 - Ok this is just one of my personal favorite franchises, had to throw it in here. Tekken was one of the first games to use 360 camera views, and the gameplay in my opinion if 2nd to none for the fighting genre.
6. Killzone 2 - Just take a look at the graphics and gameplay from the released videos, and the name says it all for this 1st person shooter.
7. Street Fighter IV - Another classic game getting a lot of attention this year, not only a new game release, but a brand new movie to boot.
8. Halo 3: ODST - The signature Xbox franchise looks to release its next chapter around Q3 of 09, the question is will anyone actually play the game? It seems like everyone only plays the online multiplayer matches.
9. Backbreaker - The graphics in this football game make Madden look like Tecmo Bowl
10. Splatterhouse - A cult classic from the NES days... one of the first games to have a "Parental Advisory Warning", it should be nice to see how todays graphics give new life to this franchise.
